Spreading Cheer at the Caregiver Christmas Party

On a recent December evening in Nashville, the Jonah’s Journey team hosted past and present caregivers and staff to celebrate the Christmas season and the amazing work of the caregivers.

“What an incredible night,” said Mark Taylor, Vice President of Jonah’s Journey, “where we applauded the caregivers, the mothers, and children we serve while also celebrating the birth of the one above all: Christ the Savior.”

Events by Aly helped coordinate the party providing tons of Christmas cheer. The Barn on Willis Branch Road was transformed into a Christmas wonderland by Inside Out Markets. Twinkle lights filled the barn with a warm glow while Adam Pope played Christmas music.

Guests mingled and shared stories from their experiences with Jonah’s Journey while enjoying a family-style meal created by Kathy’s Sugar and Spice Catering. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the main course, but it was the dessert – bread pudding – that left everyone wanting more.

While caregivers enjoyed their party, the children had their own celebration. The Long Hollow Baptist student ministry planned the festivities, which included food provided by the Chick-Fil-A Rivergate location.

At the adults’ party, Jonah’s Journey director, Susan Moffitt, spoke about the work Jonah’s Journey has done over the year and mentioned what a blessing each caregiver, infant and mother has been to the organization.

The crowd was captivated by the testimony from one of the Jonah’s Journey mothers. She shared her impactful story; what began with her plea to God for help has resulted in finding love and support through Jonah’s Journey.

Recently released from prison, the mother now owns her own business and continuously thanked the caregivers who took in her child while in prison.

Drake Bassett, President & CEO of Palmer Home for Children, followed the mother’s testimony with a simple message of thanks for the support the caregivers provide to make this mission possible.

The night ended with a group singing of “Go Tell It On the Mountain”, perfectly encompassing the messages of joy and hope shared throughout the evening.

I asked the Lord to help me
And he showed me the way
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born
